SUMMARY:Ace Your Flight Review
DESCRIPTION:Too often flight reviews are treated as a formality – an obligatory “box to check” every 24 calendar months. The fact is\, for most pilots\, a flight review is often the only flight/ground training they will have received in those last 2 years. That small amount of training is often not enough to keep up with the ever-changing world of General Aviation. \nIn order to make a flight review both meaningful and educational\, both the pilot and flight instructor must be on the same page well before arriving to the airport. Join us to learn about our custom\, online flight review syllabus that not only “checks the box” of FAR 61.56\, but also allows an individual pilot to tailor the training experience to meet the needs of their mission.\nFlight instructors Justin Cleland and Beth Rehm will lead a discussion about how to properly prepare for your Flight Review. We will also walk you through (and enroll all those interested) in our online syllabus to make sure you ace your next flight review! \nSaturday February 12\, 2022 \nProgram: 10:00-11:00 am \nLocation: Zoom Virtual Meeting \nIn order to register for this meeting\, please RSVP with your email address to rebekah@flywithjb.com \nEach registered participant will receive an email from Rebekah containing the Zoom link to join the presentation.

SUMMARY:Secrets of the TRACON
DESCRIPTION:Chicago Approach ATC veteran\, Aaron Barclay\, is both an air traffic controller and flight instructor. As such\, he has extensive experience on both sides of the radar scope. Please join us as Aaron offers a comprehensive perspective to demystify the world of ATC.\n\nIn Person / Hybrid Gathering at the Galt Studio \n\n\nEver wonder what goes on behind the radar scope at Chicago Approach? Now is your chance to hear from and ask questions from a 13+ year ATC veteran at Chicago Approach. Aaron Barclay is both an air traffic controller and flight instructor. Having the experience of both sides of the radar scope\, Aaron brings a comprehensive perspective to both pilots and fellow controllers alike to bridge the mysterious gap between the two. Curious how to best navigate in and out of Galt airport and receive ATC services VFR and IFR? Ever wonder why a controller says\, “Sorry I was on the line”? Ever been curious about why you can’t file and go direct destination? Ever have grand visions of climbing through the bravo? Did you ever hear a controller say unable? Did you ever have a controller ignore you? Aaron will answer these questions and many more along with some embarrassing moments from controller and pilot alike.  \n  \nVirtual attendees: Please RSVP directly to Arnie Quast via email at arnie@eaa932.org .  A Zoom link will be provided just prior to the event.

SUMMARY:Star Party with Geneva Lake Astrophysics and Steam
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a waning night of summer with a Star Party! Weather permitting\, we will gaze into the night sky with expert astronomer Adam McCulloch from the Geneva Lake Astrophysics and STEAM (GLAS) team. \nGalt Airport community\, families and friends along with EAA 932 members are welcome to join us for a Saturday evening of star gazing. Meet at the FBO. Starting at 7pm\, GLAS will give a brief introduction followed by 3-4 activities that demonstrate different astronomical objects. Telescopes will be available for viewing 1 hour after sunset. We will have the opportunity to view: Jupiter\, Saturn\, Andromeda Galaxy\, Ring Nebula\, Hercules Cluster\, Pleiades\, and Dumbell Nebula\, as well as Constellation tours. If you have your own telescope\, you are welcome to bring it to the event\, however GLAS volunteers may not have time to assist in locating celestial bodies. \nA tax deductible donation of $20 to the Ed Moricoli Memorial Flight Training Scholarship fund is encouraged to help support events like this with the goal of funding the annual Ed Moricoli Flight Training Scholarship. Please RSVP to help us to ensure that the GLAS team has enough telescopes and volunteers to allow everyone the opportunity to see and ponder what is “out there”. \nSyd Krause\, the 2022 Ray Scholar recipient\, is a participant of the GLAS program. Check out the GLAS website to learn more about their programs.\nRSVP and Donate here
