JB Aviation Management, Inc was founded in 2011 by Justin Cleland and Brian Spiro. At the time of founding, the business employed three people and owned/operated one airplane. Today JB Aviation employs twenty-six people and owns/operates ten airplanes, all based at Galt Airport (10C) in Greenwood, Illinois.

Under their management, Galt Airport was named Illinois Department of Transportations “Airport of the Year” in 2014 and has been featured nationally in EAA’s Sport Aviation magazine, AOPA’s Flight Training magazine, and many others. Their management company promotes airport community, culture, and is successful at delivering thriving business in all facets of aviation.

Justin Cleland

Co-Owner of JB Aviation

Justin Cleland is co-owner of JB Aviation and manager of Galt Airport.He has worked at Galt since 2005, starting as an apprentice mechanic in the Aircraft Maintenance Shop. In 2008, he earned his CFII; immediately teaming-up with a single Cessna 172 to begin the process of revitalizing a stagnant flight school at Galt Airport. At the same time, he also began managing Galt Airport’s day-to-day operations.

Justin has his hands in a little bit of everything at Galt, from flight instructing to snow plowing to managing airport finances, you’ll see him involved in every aspect of airport life.

Brian Spiro

Aircraft Maintenance- Brian

Brian Spiro is an A&P/IA that started working at Galt Airport in 2006 and took over managing the aircraft maintenance shop in 2007. In 2011 he co-founded JB Aviation with Justin Cleland and has been running the maintenance shop and helping maintain the airport ever since. He attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach Florida and has a private pilot license and an instrument rating. Brian spent a summer as a crew chief for a professional airshow team.

Mike Nowakowski

Flight Instructors Mike

Mike is a pilot’s pilot to the core. Deciding he wanted to be a pilot at the age of 8, Mike joined Civil Air Patrol as soon as he was of age, and then began flying as soon as he could. Mike has obtained his Commercial Single and Multi-Engine Pilot Certificates with Instrument Rating, as well as Certified Flight Instructor Instrument Airplane Certificate.

Fast forward to September of 2014, Mike walked in the door of JB Aviation Flight School looking for a part time flight instructor position. Two months after he started at JB Aviation, part time turned into full time. Mike took over running the flight school mid-2016 and is also the Sales Manager for JB Aviation’s sister company Cornerstone Aircraft Sales. Mike is married, and has 4 children and when not flying or talking about flying he is probably at one of his kids sporting events!

Rebekah Busse

Rebekah attended Minnesota State University and earned her bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management and minored in Business, and Recreation Leisure Services. While there, she also earned her private pilot’s license and multi engine rating.

She first wandered into the FBO at Galt Airport while on summer break in 2009. During the summers of 2009 and 2010 she worked as a line service technician and assisted in the office.

She worked at Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport in Dickinson North Dakota and at Appleton International Airport in Appleton Wisconsin before returning to Galt to begin working for JB Aviation Management in 2013. She is the General Manager of JB Aviation and handles the day to day operations and airport administration.

Rebekah is a native to Minnesota and travels back often to visit family. While not working, she enjoys beekeeping, walking with her dog, Gretta, and hanging out with her nephews.
